Privacy, Communications, and SMS Policy

Diapers 2 Deposits (“D2D,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting the privacy, safety, and personal information of all participants, partners, and families we serve—especially minors. This policy outlines how we collect, use, store, and protect personal information, including SMS/text message communications.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only the information necessary to deliver high-quality financial literacy programming. This may include:

  • Name of participant, parent/guardian, or organizational contact

  • Phone number(s) for program-related communications

  • Email address(es)

  • School, organization, or program affiliation

  • Program scheduling and attendance information

We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal information such as Social Security numbers, banking credentials, or financial account numbers.

2. SMS / Text Message Communications

By providing a phone number to Diapers 2 Deposits, you consent to receive SMS communications related to program operations, including but not limited to:

  • Program reminders (48-hour, and day-of notifications)

  • Scheduling updates

  • Inclement weather alerts

  • Same-day program cancellations or rescheduling notices

Once programming begins, participants or designated contacts may notify D2D of rescheduling or cancellations by replying directly to the SMS number used for program communications.

Opt-Out

By opting into SMS from a web form or other medium, you are agreeing to receive SMS messages from Diapers 2 Deposits. This includes SMS messages for conversations (external). Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. See privacy policy at https://diapers2deposits.com/privacy-policy#privacy-policy. Message HELP for help. Reply STOP to any message to opt out. D2D does not send marketing or promotional SMS messages without explicit consent.

3. Protection of Minors’ Privacy

Diapers 2 Deposits takes additional precautions when working with children and youth under the age of 18.

  • We do not collect phone numbers directly from minors without parental, guardian, or school authorization.

  • SMS communications are sent to parents, guardians, educators, or authorized organizational representatives, not directly to minors, unless explicitly approved in writing.

  • Any data related to minors is used solely for educational programming purposes.

  • We comply with applicable child privacy protections, including principles aligned with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), where applicable.

4. How We Use Information

Collected information is used exclusively to:

  • Coordinate and deliver financial literacy programming

  • Communicate program logistics and operational updates

  • Ensure participant safety and continuity of services

  • Meet reporting and compliance requirements for grants or school partnerships

We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information to third parties.

5. Data Security & Storage

Diapers 2 Deposits implements reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information, including:

  • Secure storage of digital records

  • Restricted access to authorized personnel only

  • Use of reputable, compliant SMS and data platforms

  • Regular review of data handling practices

While no system is 100% secure, we actively work to minimize risk and prevent unauthorized access.

6. Third-Party Service Providers

D2D may use trusted third-party platforms (e.g., SMS providers, scheduling tools) strictly for operational purposes. These providers are required to maintain confidentiality and data protection standards consistent with this policy.

7. Information Retention

Personal information is retained only as long as necessary to:

  • Fulfill program obligations

  • Meet legal, contractual, or grant requirements

  • Resolve disputes or enforce policies

Information is securely deleted when no longer required.

8. Policy Updates

This policy may be updated periodically to reflect changes in laws, technology, or program operations. Updates will be posted on our website with the revised effective date.
